Library

The Alliance Française de Colombo offers a library with more than 12000 books of French grammer, literature, poetry, drama, art, history, philosophy, music, cinema, social sciences, novels, science fiction and books for children and teenagers.

Periodicals

Publications - magazines & news papers from the French press on weekly or monthly basis at the disposal of general public.

Reference Section

Equipped with Dictionaries, Encyclopaedias and other material of reference nature creating a peaceful working environment for the users.

MultiMedia Section

Multi Media Section offers a rich variety of documentaries, films on VHS and DVD, audio cassettes and CDs. Members can use freely CD players and DVD players and head phones. Internet connection can also be used on payment of a small fee (see tariffs at the multi media desk).

A Self Learning French Spot is also available at the multi media section. Computers equipped with headphones are at the disposal of members.

Membership

Membership is open to All individuals interested.

Fees

Individual Membership Rs. 1000/- per year

Familiy Membership Rs. 1500/- per year

Life Membership Rs. 10,000/- per person

Library Deposits
Books	Individual Rs.250 Refundable
	Family Rs. 500/- (Refundable)
Video	Individual Rs. 500/- (Refundable)
	Family Rs. 1000/- (Refundable)

Individual members can generally borrow tow books and one magazine at a time for a period of three weeks. Family membership holders can borrow three books and two magazines at a time.

Multi Media Center

All students and interested individuals are eligible to become members after paying the above fee. A rental fee is charged per DVD/ Video cassette and CD Audios. Only films can be rented and documentaries are for reference at the fully equipped section at the centre. Students and Individual Members can borrow two DVDs video cassettes or CD audios at a time.
Fines are imposed for any delays in returning or loss of books, magazines, audio cassettes, videos, CDs and CD ROMs.
